Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year! It's hard to believe that this is my eleventh year at Fairlawn! So much has changed since I first arrived but the one constant has been my love for teaching. Last year, I switched teaching positions and began teaching primarily middle school classes. Currently, I do a little bit of everything including 7th and 8th grade social studies, 7th grade computers, a high school computer class, Psychology and Sociology. What a mix! The best thing about my schedule is that it keeps me on my toes, never knowing what's coming next. Regardless of the class taught, my expectations are the same...students take responsibility for their actions and take an active role in the learning process while enjoying a comfortable learning environment.
On a personal note, before coming to Fairlawn, I taught four years in the Delaware County school of Big Walnut. I started there teaching ninth grade and worked my way to junior and senior level classes. We were a fairly large school so coming to Fairlawn was quite a change. I grew up in Troy,Ohio...not too far from Fairlawn. After attending Bowling Green, I was a substitute teacher for four years before finding a full time position at Big Walnut. While working there, I obtained my master's degree in technology from Ashland University. I moved back to the Miami/Shelby County area when I decided to marry my husband Scott, who graduated from Miami East. After moving back, I began subbing at Fairlawn and was offered a full-time teaching position after the 2004-2005 school year. I am the proud mother of 8 year old twins Connor and Abigail and an ornery 6 year old, Wyatt. The rest, as they say, is HISTORY (get it?!? I teach history...) .
