Meet our Assistant Principal

Hello Fairlawn Families!

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself officially. My name is Thomas Mele, and I am ecstatic to announce that I will be the new PreKG-12 Assistant Principal. I am beyond excited to join the Fairlawn family. Over the past couple of months, I have heard a lot of great things about Fairlawn and its students, families, and staff.

Here’s a little bit about me! I grew up and graduated from St. Marys, OH. I still live in the area today with my wife and three boys. I attended Wittenberg University for my undergraduate degree and earned my Master’s from the University of Cincinnati. I have been in education for the past six years, teaching 3rd/4th/5th grade online (all subjects), 4th grade ELA, and most recently 4th grade Science & Social Studies. In addition to teaching, I have played an active role in coaching multiple sports including football, Track & Field, and supervised off-season weightlifting programs.

My family means everything to me. My wife, Nicole, and I have three boys — Tripp, Cletus, and Vincent. These three boys keep us busy and laughing every day. Along with me, my wife is also in education as an 8th-grade Science teacher in St. Marys. Outside of school, you’ll usually find me outdoors. We love to play with the boys, do yard work, garden, or my favorite, being out on the lake in our boat.

Friends and family are the most important things in my life, and that same value carries into how I approach this work. I believe every connection and interaction matters! I look forward to building relationships with everyone in the Fairlawn community.

So, as the summer sun sets and the school year sun rises, please feel free to stop in and introduce yourself. I’m looking forward to this upcoming school year and everything it brings.

Warmly,
Mr. Thomas Mele
